Six killed in India train accident

BANGALORE: Six passengers were killed and more than 35 injured Thursday when four compartments of a train derailed near Bangalore, the technology and aviation hub of India, police said.

One of the compartments overturned while three others went off the rails in Naganahalli, 120 kilometres southwest of Bangalore, the capital of Karnataka state.

“We are clearing the debris to find out if any more people are trapped. The injured have been shifted to hospitals. The exact cause of the accident has to be ascertained. —AFP
