Rawalpindi nazim announces drive against hepatitis
RAWALPINDI: District Nazim Raja Tariq Kiani announced a two-day campaign against Hepatitis B and C on Friday.
“Mobile teams from the heath department are to visit every part of Rawalpindi to vaccinate residents,” Mr Kiani told a press conference at the office of the executive health director. He added that 18 centres would also be established especially for the vaccination campaign.
Mr Kiani said the campaign would be carried out on January 24 and 25. He said that children up to the age of one year would be vaccinated free while Rs 80 would be charged for children between the age of one to five years and Rs 100 from adults.
Mr Kiani said that Rawalpindi would be the first district of Pakistan to launch the campaign against hepatitis with cooperation from the Society of Cardiology. Giving details of the campaign, Mr Kiani said that a special seminar has been organised at Holy Family Hospital today (Saturday) with liver specialists addressing the participants. On January 25, a walk has been organised from Committee Chowk to Liaquat Bagh, he added. Mr Kiani said that special lecturers had been arranged for lady health visitors, teachers, clerics and students throughout the week. —NNI
