Weapons seized in Karachi
KARACHI: The police recovered five rocket propelled grenades and bullets for sub-machineguns and light machineguns from an abandoned house in Hyderabad Colony on Friday.
The arms and ammunition were recovered on a lead given by Shamim Ahmed Shami, an activist of the banned Lashkar-e-Jhangvi. He was arrested in Gulistan-e-Jauhar on the Friday, January 16. On another lead provided by him a huge cache of explosives was seized from Mehmoodabad on Sunday, January 18. Mehmoodabad Police Station House Officer Saeed Rind, who is interrogating Shami, said Shami revealed that he took a house on rent in Hyderbad Colony from a woman and stored the five RPG rockets and 200 bullets in it. He said there was no information about the owner of the house but more arms and ammunition could be found on more leads that Shami might give.
