Militant held in Delhi
NEW DELHI: Indian police have arrested a suspected Kashmiri militant in New Delhi with a cache of explosives days ahead of the country’s Republic Day celebrations, a report said on Friday.
The militant, believed to belong to the Hizb-e-Islami group, was captured late Thursday with 3.5 kilogrammes of explosives, the Press Trust of India news agency said.
Police were questioning the man who was allegedly planning to launch an attack in the capital to disturb the celebrations on Monday marking India’s 55th anniversary as a republic, Joint Police Commissioner Karnal Singh said. —AFP
