NWFP govt will consult provincial MMA leadership

By Mohammad Imran

ISLAMABAD: The Muttahida Majlis-e-Amal (MMA) has decided that the government of the NWFP would be run under the guidelines of the MMA’s provincial set up.

“In this regard the MMA central leadership has decided that the chief minister of the NWFP would consult the provincial MMA leadership on every issue and every development project would be initiated by the NWFP government,” sources told Daily Times on Friday.

“The MMA leadership also decided that before the CM announces any development project in the province he would take the MMA provincial head Qazi Abdul Latif into confidence and also inform the concerned MNAs and MPAs regarding development projects,” the sources added.

These decisions were taken during an informal telephone conversation between the leadership of the MMA, especially after the JUI-S threatened to part ways with the MMA, the sources said.

In order to avoid any split in the alliance of the MMA’s central leadership, it has decided to form a three-member committee to resolve internal differences and address the complaints of the member parties of the alliance, sources said. “The central leadership of the MMA has decided to form a three-member committee comprising chief minister NWFP Akram Khan Durani, senator Gul Naseeb Khan and Senator Prof Ibrahim to look after the problems of the smaller groups of the alliance,” sources said.
