Prisoner stabs Camp Jail head warden

LAHORE: A district camp jail prisoner stabbed the head warden in the throat during a riot on Friday. Jail sources told Daily Times that the administration locked up some prisoners in Kasuri Chaki No 40 for protesting against brutal behaviour of Deputy Superintendent Shamraiz. Meanwhile other prisoners announced a hunger strike. On Thursday night, one of the prisoners fell unconscious and Assistant Superintendent Mudasar ordered them to end their hunger strike, but they refused. Enraged, Mudasar along with five constables thrashed the prisoners detained in Chaki No 9. Seeing this, prisoners Rehan, Muhammad Naveed and Yaseen attacked the officials and Rehan stabbed Safdar Hussain in the neck with a paper cutter. Jail officials immediately locked up all the prisoners back in their cell and took Hussain to Services Hospital, where he is out of danger. Sources said that jail authorities had submitted an application to the Shadman police station for registration of a case.
