Sea View Beach closed for 3 days due to oil spill

KARACHI: Sea View Beach was closed for three days on Monday after oil leaked from an offshore ship that had capsized.

DHA sources told Daily times on Tuesday that the beach had been closed from McDonalds Restaurant to Kinara Restaurant. The capsized ship that has been identified as Al-Garodh, left Karachi on June 19 and developed a fault when it was about 35 NM off the coast.

The captain of the boat decided to return to Karachi Port but his ship sank about 12 NM from the port.

The leaking oil from the capsized boat spread over Sea View Beach on Tuesday, which prompted DHA authorities to close down the beach so they could get it cleaned. app
