Imran Khan — stumped at wed pitch, but dodges media

By Tanvir Zahid

LAHORE: Former legendary cricketer-turned-politician Imran Khan has played a well-conceived game to announce the break of his nine-year long innings of marriage with Jemaima on Tuesday by dodging the media.

The breaking of Imran Khan and Jemaima marriage was announced in Islamabad at a time when Mr Khan, chairman of the Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaaf and member of the National Assembly is away on a journey to mountainous areas in Chitral.

Sources close to Mr Khan said that the former skipper of Pakistan Cricket Team would not be back to Islamabad from the Northern areas before a week.

Mr Khan could not be contacted through mobile phone, which reportedly become inoperative in such areas.

The announcement of divorce was made by an office-bearer of the PTI in Islamabad on behalf of the party chief.

Mr Khan, owing to his increasing political activities, had shifted to Islamabad sometime back and in his native house at the Zaman Park, Lahore, his elderly father Ikrammulah Khan Niazi is residing.

As far children, seven-year-old Salman and four-year-old Qasim are living with their mother Jemamima in London and last visited Pakistan in March.

Reports said the broken celebrity couple has decided to keep custody of the children by rotation, as per arrangement to which they must have already agreed at the time of parting ways.
