City’s celebrities ‘saddened’ by Imran, Jemima divorce

By Shoaib Ahmed

LAHORE: The city’s famous personalities were saddened and surprised by Imran and Jemima’s divorce. Most felt it was a result of Jemima being unable to settle in Pakistan.

Socialite Yousuf Salahuddin: Imran and Jemima tried their best to live together. Jemima tried to adjust to Pakistan, but perhaps she could not. Imran had a simple choice; he could leave his wife or his country. He decided in favour of his country.

TV producer Ayub Khawar: It is shocking that they have got separated. This proves that whatever understanding one has, without a relation to the cultural roots of a place, it is difficult to survive.

Puppeteer Faizan Peerzada: It is shocking and sad news. When something shocking takes place one does not know how to react. I really don’t know what to say. I could not imagine such talk about a marriage ending like this.

National College of Arts Principal Sajida Wandal: Divorce is never good. It shows that the couple did not get along.

Writer Haseena Moeen: Imran Khan is a national hero. I really feel bad about his divorce. I don’t know what is behind the divorce, but it should not have happened. If such things happen to good people, their personalities can be damaged.

Painter Dr Ajaz Anwar: The couple must have thought, ‘You live once’, so they decided what they thought was best for them.

Actor Usman Peerzada: It is a very sad. Whenever a marriage breaks it is hard for both parties to bear.

Actress Sana: I feel very bad about Imran’s divorce. It is really sad. They were such a nice and sweet couple. God knows what wrong.
