Journalists stage sit-in outside newspaper offices

LAHORE: Journalists staged a sit-in on Tuesday outside the offices of English daily The Nation to demand implementation of the 7th Wage Board Award.

The Punjab Union of Journalists (PUJ) president said all journalists had a right to higher salaries under the award and the campaign to implement it would continue. He denounced newspaper owners for publishing advertisements against the award rather than carrying it out. The journalists are scheduled to stage another sit-in in front of the daily Jang on Wednesday from 5.00 to 7.00pm.

The protesting journalists also demanded that the government decide the board for the 8th Wage Board Award and hold newspaper owners accountable.
