Teter wins snowboarding halfpipe event
SAPPORO (Japan): American Hannah Teter edged Japan’s Soko Yamaoka on Sunday to win a snowboarding World Cup halfpipe event. Teter was awarded 37.9 points on her first run at the Makomanai halfpipe to claim her first World Cup halfpipe title since last year’s event in Valle Nevado, China. Yamaoka, who leads the halfpipe World Cup standings, produced a best score of 36.8 points for second place, while Australia’s Torah Jane Bright was third.
In the men’s event, Finland’s Antii Autii took top honors with 44.3 points while compatriot Risto Mattila, who leads the halfpipe standings, was second with 43.9 points. Germany’s Xaver Hoffman was third with 42.5 points while American Steven Fisher finished sixth with 38.7 points. —AP
