Musharraf backs Lankan efforts

ISLAMABAD: President General Pervez Musharraf reaffirmed on Wednesday Pakistan’s commitment to the territorial integrity of Sri Lanka and backed Colombo’s peace efforts.

The president was talking to HMGS Palihakkara, special envoy of the Sri Lankan president, who delivered him a letter from President Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga.

Palihakkara, who is also Sri Lanka’s foreign secretary, is in Pakistan on a two-day visit. He conveyed greetings of the Sri Lankan president to President Musharraf and discussed matters of mutual interest. President Musharraf expressed satisfaction over the excellent bilateral ties between the two countries.
