ISLAMABAD: The Senate Standing Committee on Rules of Procedure and Privileges on Wednesday directed the interior minister and the National Assembly (NA) secretary to appear before it and explain their position on two privilege motions by the senators.

The committee considered two identical privilege motions moved by senators Sanaullah Baloch, Dr Muhammad Akbar Khawaja, Asfand Yar Wali, Rehmatullah Kakar, Saadia Abbasi, Professor Sajid Mir and Raza Muhammad Raza.

The movers stated their privilege was breached because of their illegal confinement in Parliament Lodges on February 22, 2004. They held Islamabad Police responsible for their illegal confinement.
