‘Personal guards for Zardari against law’
KARACHI: The Sindh government, in its comments on a petition by Asif Ali Zardari, told the Sindh High Court on Wednesday that under the prevailing laws PPP leader Asif Zardari could neither be allowed to keep personal security guards in plainclothes nor a vehicle with darkened glass. Mr Zardari had sought the court’s direction to the provincial government to provide him official security or allow him to keep private security guards and vehicles with darkened glass. The Sindh government, in the comments filed by advocate general Sindh, submitted that the provincial home department had allowed the petitioner to hire uniformed armed guards from a registered security company for his security. However, in view of the ban imposed by the federal government on displaying and carrying arms, the petitioner could under no circumstances be given permission to keep personal guards. staff report
