MMA observes protest today

LAHORE: The religious parties’ alliance, Muttahida Majlis-e-Amal (MMA), will observe a protest day on Friday against the arrest of nuclear scientists, the Wana operation and raids against madrassas.

Main protest rallies will be held in Islamabad, Lahore, Karachi, Quetta, Peshawar, Multan, Faisalabad, Bahawalpur and Sargodha.

The MMA general secretary, Liaqat Baloch, will lead the rally in Islamabad while Mian Maqsood Ahmad will do so in Lahore. Mr Baloch met the MMA senior vice-president, Maulana Samiul-Haq, at Akora Khattak, Nowshera on Thursday and condoled his wife’s death. Both the leaders discussed the alliance’s schedule for the next supreme council session and decided that it would be called after EidulAzha in Islamabad.
