MQM slates JI hostility to Khokhrapar
Staff Report
KARACHI: The Muttahida Qaumi Movement’s Sindh Assembly members on Thursday said the Jamaat-e-Islami’s opposition to the reopening of the Khokhrapar-Munabao border between Pakistan and India served anti-Sindh forces.
“By opposing the reopening of this border, for which the people of Sindh have been longing for decades, Jamaat leaders are serving the enemies of Sindh at the cost of the people of the province,” the MQM MPAs said in a joint statement.
The statement was issued in reply to the recent statement of the Jamaat-e-Islami’s Sindh president, Dr Mumtaz Ali Memon, in which he said his party would resist the reopening of the border.
“This border, which is most convenient for the people of Sindh, has been kept closed because of such elements,” the statement said.
“Once again,” it said, “the Jamaat has proved it is an anti-Sindh party and a representative of the usurpers of the rights of the people of the province.”
