Gas pipeline catches fire in Rawalpindi

RAWALPINDI: A Sui gas pipeline caught fire on the road between Faizabad and Pir Wadhai on Thursday, Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) officials said. “There are no reports of casualties,” officials said. A crisis management and technical team of SNGPL reached the spot and joined fire fighters to put out the fire.

SNGPL General Manager Ismail Piracha said an investigation had begun. However, he said the company would claim insurance. He said the company would take some measures to avoid such incidents in the future. —NNI
