Homebuyer finds 113-year-old letter

A woman who bought a house in the southern Brazilian town of Laguna, found a 113-year-old letter behind a wall. The woman told Jornal Nacional she was astonished when she found an old red wine bottle with the letter inside it.

She said the letter was from the house’s first owner, and dated back to 1891. She said: “A man called Lucidanio Ferreira Machado wrote that he was single and 36 years of age. He said he was ill and asked for whoever found the message to have a mass celebrated for his soul.” The letter was sent to a specialist who certified it was real and the house’s new owner had the mass celebrated. ananova
