6 French reporters sent back by US

WASHINGTON: Six French journalists who flew into Los Angeles to cover a games trade show were taken into custody, interrogated, handcuffed and put back on Paris-bound planes, Reporters Sans Frontiere (RSF) said on Wednesday.

The group lodged a strong protest with US authorities on the treatment of the six French journalists, saying they had been treated like criminals, subjected to several body searches, handcuffed, locked up for over 24 hours, fingerprinted and expelled. —Staff Report
