Chinese military team due today

BEIJING: A Chinese military delegation will arrive in Islamabad on Monday on a five-day visit to boost defence cooperation between the two countries.

Chinese Defence Minister Gen Cao Gangchunan and senior members of the People’s Liberation Army make up the delegation. The delegation is scheduled to meet President Pervez Musharraf, PM Zafarullah Jamali and other top civil and military officials. A senior defence official in Beijing said the two sides would review their future strategy to strengthen their defence relations. Chinese defence sources said the visit would be highly significant since it took place soon after an annual session of China’s highest legislative forum, the National People’ Congress. —APP
