MMA convenes tribal jirga on April 4
PESHAWAR: In consideration of the ongoing Wana operation, political party Muttahida Majlis-e-Amal, (MMA) has convened a jirga of tribal elders on April 4. Qazi Hussain Ahmed, who is the MMA’s acting president, condemned the operation in South Waziristan Agency being carried out by the Pakistan Army and paramilitary forces against foreign militants hiding there. He said that the government should shun its pro-US policies and stop the fireworks in Wana. He said violence is being committed against those who are guarding the Pakistani border. He said the Wana operation is a US conspiracy to pitch the army against the people of Pakistan He said that during the jirga, policies would be formulated for a campaign against the government for its operation in Wana. —Online
