4 Pakistanis qualify for COAS squash main draw

ISLAMABAD: Four Pakistanis Saturday qualified for the main draw of the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) International Squash Championship starting at Roshan Khan Squash Complex here from Sunday (today).

They will join the club of 16 players who are already in the fray. They are: Majid Khan, Khayal Muhammad, Saeed Hassan and Farhan Mehboob. Saeed Hassan dumped Englishman Alister Walker while the three others overcame their Pakistani compatriots. Karim Darwish of Egypt is the seed No 1 in this second round of the championship. The 11 others already in the main draw are: Shahid Zaman (Pakistan), Mansoor Zaman (Pakistan), Hisham M Ashour (Egypt), Muhammad Abbas (Egypt), Peter Barker (England), Farrukh Zaman (Pakistan), Ben Garner (England), Adrian Grant (England), Renan Lavigne (France), Wael El Hindi (Egypt) and Omar Elborolossy (Egypt).

Results:

Majid Khan (Pakistan) beat Mohammad Ilyas (Pakistan) 15-17, 15-11, 15-8, 15-2

Khayal Muhammad (Pakistan) beat Khalid Atlas (Pakistan) 15-13, 6-15, 15-14, 15-10

Saeed Hassan (Pakistan) beat Alister Walker (England) 15-12, 15-14, 5-15, 15-13

Farhan Mehboob (Pakistan) beat Safeerullah Khan (Pak) 15-6, 15-8, 13-15, 15-14. —APP
