3-day conference on Waris Shah from July 22
LAHORE: The World Punjabi Congress (WPC) will hold a three-day International Conference on Waris Shah from July 22 to 24 at Lahore and Jandiala Sher Khan, Sheikhupura, said Fakhar Zaman, WPC chairman, on Friday. Zaman said that 250 writers, scholars, journalists and linguists from 10 countries would participate in the conference. Out of the 250, 150 will come from India, he said. Zaman said that I K Gujral, former Indian prime minister, will be the chief guest and that invitations have been sent to Maharaja Amrinder Singh, Indian Punjab chief minister, Sheila Dixit, Delhi State chief minister, Haryana chief minister and Om Parkash Choutala, former Harayan chief minister. He said that 10 members of the Punjab Assembly, eight provincial ministers, two vice chancellors and prominent film stars will also participate in the conference. Zaman said that Chief Minister Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi has been invited to preside over the inaugural session of the conference.
