Iranian plane catches fire at Tehran airport
TEHRAN: An Iranian plane carrying 157 passengers caught fire while landing at Tehran’s main airport on Wednesday night causing some injuries but no deaths, Iran state television said.
The Boeing 707 plane, travelling from the Gulf island of Kish, poured out smoke and then flames shortly after landing, Iran state television said. All those aboard, including the 16 crew, were accounted for. A Reuters photographer at the scene saw ambulances taking injured people to hospital. The extent of their injuries was not immediately known.
The plane was operated by Saha Airlines - a commercial service owned by Iran’s armed forces. Speaking to state television, the head of the airline, Nikoukar, said early indications were that the plane had hit a hollow at the start of the runway as it came into land. reuters
