Miss Germany wants to disarm Saddam

Miss Germany 2003 is looking for a place in Iraqi President Saddam Hussein’s arms to get him to disarm.

The German newspaper Bild is trying to arrange a meeting between Miss Germany, Alexandra Vodjanikowa, and Saddam Hussein.

Miss Germany is going to Baghdad for a week anyway. She has a meeting set up with Iraqi Foreign Minister Naji Sabri. But she really wants to meet Saddam. The Iraqis have been quick to give her a visa, among the most difficult things to get these days. Miss Germany says she wants to do her bit to avoid a US war on Iraq.

In this she has the same aims as German Chancellor Gerhard Schroeder, and according to opinion polls, most of German people. She believes her ends will justify the means.

During the run-up to the Gulf War of 1991 an Italian actress offered to sleep with Saddam Hussein if he surrendered. Germany hopes to succeed where Italy failed. —New India Press
