PM reviews Balochistan development projects
ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz discussed progress on development projects including the Gwadar port and Mirani and Gomal Zam dams with Jam Muhammad Yousaf, Balochistan chief minister, at Prime Minster’s House on Monday.
A new airport at Gwadar, roads linking Gwadar to Chaman, Indus Highway GT Road and other development projects in Balochistan were also discussed in the meeting. Mr Aziz said that Balochistan was getting 13 percent of the total Public Sector Development Programme. The prime minister told the chief minister that an agreement with China had been signed to deepen the Gwadar seaport to 14.7 metres, allowing big vessels access to the port.
PM reviews performance of Narcotics Division: In a meeting with Narcotics Control Division and the Anti-Narcotics Force, the prime minister was told that there was no heroine laboratory in Pakistan because of Anti-Narcotics Force efforts. The force had also been successful in freezing drug baron assets worth $66.67 million.
In collaboration with various international agencies, the force is attempting to eradicate poppy cultivation, rehabilitate drug addicts and introduce a Demand Reduction Programme. agencies
