Butchers’ strike enters 10th day
LAHORE: The butchers’ strike entered 10th day and caused a Rs 10 to 20 increase in chicken and fish prices. The butchers refused to pay a three percent tax and staged a strike. At present, the district government and the Allama Iqbal Town administrations are consulting them to resolve the issue, but no decision has been made as yet. District Nazim Mian Amer Mehmood had directed the Allama Iqbal Town administration to resolve the matter quickly. Mian Ejaz, the Allama Iqbal Town naib nazim, said that the issue was serious and efforts were underway to resolve it. Town Municipal Officer Imtiaz Zaman said that town officer (TO) for finance was handling the issue. The TO was not available for comment. staff report
