PMA observes black day
Staff Report
LAHORE: The Pakistan Medical Association (PMA) of Punjab observed black day on Monday against government health policies and delays in the regularisation of doctors hired on contracts.
According to a statement issued by the PMA, doctors will wear black armbands during duty on December 20 to protest the contractual appointment policy, while a conference will be arranged on January 11 in Lahore.
The PMA expressed concern over the government health policy and allotment of Basic Health Units to non-government organisations instead of appointing doctors. It demanded that user charge be ended in public sector hospitals, because they were a burden on poor patients. It also asked the government to make people-friendly policies.
