UHS to set up new department

LAHORE: The University of Health Sciences (UHS) will set up a “medical education for continuous professional development and audit of health professionals” department and the Higher Education Commission (HEC) has approved Rs 21.7 million for this project, said an announcement after an HEC meeting on Wednesday.
The UHS vice chancellor, Dr Malik Hussain Mubbashar, informed the meeting that the main objectives of this project were to develop human resources in health professional education by setting up a teacher-training centre and to help institutions adopt new teaching methods including community education and problem-based learning.
Dr Mubbashar said the department would coordinate with the examination department to prepare and update objective and subjective questions. “The department will conduct workshops for health professional,” the UHS vice chancellor added.
The vice chancellor said the department would evaluate the performance of teaching institutions and suggest ways and means to revamp them.
