Kaleem Saadat appointed new Air Chief
ISLAMABAD: The government on Wednesday promoted Air Marshal Kaleem Saadat to Air Chief Marshal and appointed him as Chief of the Air Staff of the Pakistan Air Force (PAF).
Prior to his appointment, he performed his duties as deputy chief of the air staff (personnel) at the Air Headquarters. During his career he commanded a fighter squadron, a fighters’ wing and an operational base. He was also assistant commandant of the College of Flying Training in Risalpur.
His important staff and instructional appointments include director of plans, chief instructor at the NDC and deputy chief of air staff (operations) at the Air Headquarters. He served in various capacities abroad that also included Turkey and Algeria.
Air Chief Marshal Saadat, born on December 12, 1951, was commissioned in the General Duties (Pilot) Branch in March 1971 and served as fighter pilot in various PAF squadrons.
In recognition to his services he was awarded with Tamgha-e-Imtiaz, Sitara-e-Imtiaz and Hilal-I-Imtiaz. Later he met President Pervez Musharraf.
