Gas supply to industrial units liberalised
ISLAMABAD: The government has approved a new gas policy, liberalising gas supply to industrial units.
The Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) that met Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz here on Thursday approved the new gas policy, a top government official told Daily Times.
Under the new policy, the federal government would decide about the new industrial gas connections, the official said, adding that the new policy would encourage commercial gas consumers. New fertiliser units would get gas according to their needs, he added.
The official said that industrial units would get uninterrupted gas throughout the year under the new policy. To other consumers however uninterrupted gas supply would be ensured for 9 months and they would get gas according to availability for the remaining three months, he added. khalid mustafa
