Ex-minister’s murderer killed in shootout
LAHORE: A team of the Crime Investigation Agency (CIA), Model Town, killed a suspected killer of former provincial minister Zulfiqar Awan in Faisal Town police precincts on Thursday morning.
Two people on a motorcycle passed the CIA team when they tried to stop them at a picket in Barkat Market because the motorcycle had a fake registration number of the Punjab police. The team chased them and a shootout took place near Maryan Chowk. A bullet hit one of the riders and he fell on the road, while his accomplice fled. When police reached the injured, he was already dead. Police found a pocket diary, cell-phone, pistol and several bullets from the deceased’s clothes. From the diary, the police identified him as Raza Shah, a hit-man and wanted in a number of robberies. They said Shah was involved in Zulfiqar Awan’s murder in 1996. staff report
