Five more killed in Kashmir violence
SRINAGAR: Five people, including three militants were killed and seven injured in several shootouts and a grenade explosion in Indian-held Kashmir, a police spokesman said Tuesday.
He said three militants and a security force official were killed in two overnight encounters in the districts of Udhampur and Poonch.
“Both the encounters erupted during search operations,” he said, adding a member of the security forces was injured during one of the encounters. Suspected militants overnight shot dead a member of a village committee in Chiralla village in Doda district, police said.
Meanwhile, five civilians and a security force personnel were injured in a grenade explosion in the main bus stand at Achabal picnic spot in Anantnag district Tuesday, the spokesman said. —AFP
