Philippines backs Pak ASEAN membership

ISLAMABAD: Foreign Minister Khurshid Mahmood Kasuri held talks with his Filipino counterpart, Delia Domingo Albert, on Tuesday and exchanged views on bilateral, regional and international issues.
They expressed satisfaction with the status of bilateral relations and identified areas for a mutually beneficial economic and trade partnership.
Ms Albert arrived in Islamabad on Tuesday for a two-day visit to Pakistan.
She expressed her country’s interest in associating itself with the Organisation of Islamic Countries.
“Pakistan enjoys close and friendly relations with the Philippines. The Philippines has supported Pakistan’s membership to the ASEAN Regional Forum and accession to the Treaty of Amity and Cooperation. The Philippines also supports Pakistan’s bid to attain Full Dialogue Partnership with ASEAN,” said a statement issued by the FO.
Mr Kasuri hosted a lunch in honour of the visiting dignitary and her delegation.
