Musharraf gets ‘Head of State Award’
ISLAMABAD: The president of the International Association of Lions Clubs on Tuesday presented the “Head of State Award” to President General Pervez Musharraf for his outstanding contributions to the promotion of humanitarian causes, a press release said on Monday.
Dr Tae Sup Lee presented the award during a meeting with the president. He luaded the government policies to eradicate extremism. He also appreciated the government’s efforts to bring about macro-economic stability and enhance the role of women in the political and social sector.
The president thanked Dr Lee and appreciated the contributions of the Lions Clubs to social welfare activities in developing countries. He specifically expressed appreciation for the grants to Pakistan.
The Lions Clubs have a membership of 1.4 million and members serve in 193 countries. Nilofar Bakhtiar, advisor to the prime minister, and former international director of the Lions Clubs, was also present in the meeting, a press release said. staff report
