MPA’s jailed brother escapes from hospital

LAHORE: Mazhar Qayyum Nahra, a prisoner in Gujranwala Jail and the younger brother of Member of the Punjab Assembly Mudassar Qayyum Nahra, escaped from Services Hospital on Tuesday. He had been admitted to the hospital four days ago to a private room.

Police said Mr Mazhar was imprisoned in connection with a murder case. Services Hospital Deputy Medical Superintendent Dr Attaur Rehman Mustafa confirmed he had escaped. He said four policemen, including an assistant sub-inspector (ASI), were guarding Mr Nahra, but the ASI and two others had also disappeared. Dr Mustafa said he fled around noon.
