Medical college students end hunger strike

PESHAWAR: Final year students of Saidu Sharif Medical College Swat ended their hunger strike on Thursday, after the provincial government assured them their demands would be met.
The students were demanding shifting of final year students to recognized colleges, college affiliation with the Peshawar University and the removal of the college principal. Irrigation Minister Hafiz Akhtar Ali, who talked to the student delegation, assured the students their demands would be met by May 5. Three Members of the Provincial Assembly Mufti Nizamuddin, Maulana Irfanullah and Hafiz Hussain Ahmed threatened to protest in the North West Frontier Province Assembly if the students’ demands were not met by May 5. These MPAs were a part of the negotiation that took place between the students and the minister.
