US always interferes in Pakistan’s affairs: Iqbal
Islamabad: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Central Leader Ahsan Iqbal on Thursday said world powers particularly the United States, had always interfered in Pakistan’s internal affairs and they always installed a military regime in the country.
In a seminar organised by the Pattan Development Foundation in collaboration with the Friedrich Ebert Stiftung, he said first America brought Ziaul Haq before waging the US-sponsored jihad against the Soviets and similarly it brought General Musharraf into power before starting its war on terror. He said the October elections were extraordinarily rigged. He criticised the apathy of civil society towards the Legal Framework Order (LFO) despite that, “Its debate is at the heart of transition to democracy”. He suggested the military go back to their business and leave civil affairs to public representatives.
