Women and children protest Marri operation
QUETTA: A large number of women and children held a demonstration on Tuesday to protest the ongoing operation in Marri Camp, which according to them was compounding the problems caused by torrential rains. The protesters were holding banners and placard inscribed with their demands, which included the provision of a relief package for rain victims. The demonstrators criticised the government for launching a siege and search operation at a time when they were in dire need of food and shelter. Reportedly, the police raided several houses on Monday and arrested a large number of people. Naz, a protestor, told journalists that the police was coercing the children and asking them where they had hidden weapons. She said that the Balochi people were concerned about Dr Shazia but were doing nothing for “their own children and women facing starvation”. online
