BSF protests to Pakistan after guard reports UFO landing

NEW DELHI: A high alert was sounded along the Pakistan-India border in Punjab following reports of an unidentified flying object (UFO) taking off from India and landing in Pakistan’s territory, a senior Border Security Force (BSF) official said on Monday.
The incident reportedly occurred on Thursday evening when the flying object landed in Pakistan’s territory around 300 yards from the zero line near the BSF Fatehpur Post in the village Chann Kalan.
BSF Senior Commandant Darbara Singh said in New Delhi that BSF Constable Jagdish Parishad, who was on duty at the international border on Thursday evening, had seen “a flying object like a hot-air balloon carrying three persons, who disembarked after landing in Pakistan’s territory”.
Mr Singh said, “Now it has become difficult to ascertain the nature of the flying object that landed in the Pakistani territory, as the BSF constable deployed at the post was not educated enough to identify the object.
“Since the constable has never seen any para-glider, fan-glider or a hot-air balloon, it is difficult to verify the authenticity of the matter,” he said. “The BSF has already handed over a protest note to the Pakistan authorities to provide necessary information on the landing [of the flying] object,” Mr Singh said.
Meanwhile, the police station concerned on the Indian side had lodged a case under the Indian Foreign Passport Act and Foreign Act, a police official said.
“It would be far-fetched to suggest that escaped prisoners from the Burail Jail and killer of former Punjab chief minister Beant Singh used a hot-air balloon to land in Pakistan,” the official said.
