Notice issued on Hashmi’s plea

ISLAMABAD: The LHC on Thursday issued a notice to the prosecution, seeking explanation as to why the Islamabad chief commissioner had issued a directive to try Javed Hashmi in jail. Counsel for Mr Hashmi said the directive was against human rights because Mr Hashmi was neither a hardcore criminal nor a security threat. He said Mr Hashmi should be tried in open court. —Staff Report
