Musharraf wants to make Pakistan a secular state: MMA
RAHIMYAR KHAN: General Pervez Musharraf wants to make Pakistan a secular state, Liaqat Baloch, Muttahida Majlis-e-Amal (MMA) deputy secretary general and the amir of Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Punjab chapter, told a press conference. Mr Baloch said the MMA would take important decisions about the future political strategy, protection of the Constitution, the operation in Wana, the use of force in Balochistan and the uniform issue at the supreme council meeting at Quetta on September 25. Mr Baloch said it would be harmful for the country if Kalabagh Dam was built without national consensus. He said the government should make arrangements because the cotton crop was being destroyed. The MMA secretary general said the Alliance for the Restoration of Democracy (ARD) was siding with government over the issue of the president’s uniform. staff report
