Wahab Khairi remanded into police custody

ISLAMABAD: Rawalpindi Judicial Magistrate Irfan Saeed on Tuesday remanded Supreme Court lawyer Wahabul Khairi into police custody for 10 days in a fraud case.
The accused was produced before the court on Saturday evening by the investigation officer who sought his 14-day remand.
The police official told the court that some important papers were to be recovered from Mr Khairi. The court did not concede to the investigation officer and gave Mr Khairi in police custody for 10 days. The court directed the police to present Mr Khairi on September 28. New Town Police had arrested Mr Khairi on an application by Safiqur Rehman who alleged that Mr he sold a house in Satellite Town on fake papers 35 years ago.
Mr Khairi has filed a writ petition in the Supreme Court against the Lahore High Court chief justice.
