Fahim and Qasim Zia leave for Dubai
Staff Report
LAHORE: Pakistan People’s Party Parliamentarians (PPPP) President Makhdoom Amin Fahim and PPPP Punjab President Qasim Zia left for Dubai to meet PPP Chairperson Benazir Bhutto on Saturday.
“We will discuss party affairs with Mohtarma,” said Mr Zia while talking to Daily Times.
PPP insiders say that Ms Bhutto has called both Mr Fahim and Mr Zia to discuss the appointment of a new PPP Punjab president. PPP General Secretary Jehangir Bader, former general secretary Chaudhry Ahmad Mukhtar, Shah Mehmmod Qureshi, MNA Raja Pervaiz Ashraf and Punjab General Secretary Rana Aftab Ahmad Khan are candidates for the slot. The sources said that PPP Senior Vice Chairman Syed Yousaf Raza Gillani was also a strong possibility, but he might not be in the race anymore as a court had convicted him of corruption and sentenced him to 10years in prison on Saturday.
