Man shoots newly wed sister and her husband for ‘honour’

LAHORE: A man shot and killed his newly wed sister and brother-in-law on Wednesday after the pair married without seeking the family’s consent, a senior police official said.

Mohammed Shafique had been searching for 24-year-old Naghmana Kauser and Mohammed Shahid, 28, since April 21 when the couple married, the officer said.

He tracked them down in Lahore and shot them both dead, apparently because they hadn’t sought the family’s permission to marry, Anwar said.

“It seems to be a case of so-called honour killing, and we hope the man who killed his sister and brother-in-law will soon be arrested,” he told reporters.
