Former NWFP speaker dies
PESHAWAR: Hidayatullah Khan Chamkani, former speaker of the NWFP Assembly, died on Thursday after a brief illness. He was 70.
Hidayatullah Chamkani, a seasoned politician and a prominent lawyer, was twice appointed speaker of the provincial assembly. He was also a main leader of the Awami National Party.
The NWFP Assembly session was postponed on Monday because of Chamkani’s death and assembly members prayed for him. Chief Minister Akram Khan Durrani, the opposition leader in the provincial assembly and other political leaders paid tribute to Chamkani. app
