Seven killed as bus overturns near Okara

OKARA: Seven people were killed and several injured when an Okara-bound bus overturned in the fog on Wednesday morning near village 34/2-RA at Satgarah Morr.
Police said the injured were mostly daily-wagers from nearby villages going to Okara to seek work. The accident occurred at about 7.15am when the vehicle went out of driver’s control and fell into a ditch. Seven people including the bus conductor were killed, while a dozen were injured.
The injured were taken to the District Hospital, Okara, where the condition of three was stated to be critical. Senior police officials including District Police Officer Zaffar Abbas Bokhari, Superintendent of Police Investigation Cell Ahmed Kamal and Deputy District Officer Revenue Zulfiqar Bhatti reached the scene of the accident and visited the hospital to ensure rescue and relief work.
