Kuwait detains 25 militants
KUWAIT: Kuwait has arrested up to 25 Islamists, suspected of links to Al Qaeda and of being involved in a shootout with police, a security source said on Tuesday.
The Arab state has stepped up security at oil and other vital installations after the latest in a series of clashes with security forces, saying militants had planned a major attack near Kuwait’s largest oil refinery and a US military camp. Kuwait said on Monday up to 15 suspects had been arrested after the shootout on Saturday in the south of the oil-rich Gulf state.
“As of Tuesday, authorities are holding up to 25 Kuwaiti and Saudi suspects for questioning,” the source said. reuters
