ANP assures Bugti of support
PESHAWAR: Asfandiyar Wali Khan, Awami National Party (ANP) president has assured Nawab Akbar Khan Bugti of his party’s full support in the Balochistan crisis. According to a press statement, Mr Khan told Mr Bugti that the present crisis was the result of a violation of the country’s federal democratic system. He said the people of Balochistan wanted to preserve their national identity because smaller provinces felt their rights were being deprived. Mr Khan said using government forces was deepening people’s problems and would be dangerous for the country’s solidarity. He said the government should be prudent and should deal with the issue through political means. He told Mr Bugti that if the government took violent action against the Balochi people, the ANP would not remain silent and would play an effective role. Mr Bugti appreciated the ANP’s role during previous crisis in the past and hoped its leadership would speak out if action were taken. staff report
