Ijaz vows to complete father’s mission
ISLAMABAD: The 16th death anniversary of former president General Ziaul Haq was observed on Tuesday. Quran Khawani was held at the mausoleum of the late president at the Faisal Mosque. The collective prayer was attended by Prime Minister Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain, Minister for Religious Affairs Muhammad Ijazul Haq, PML Secretary General Mushahid Hussain, Minister for Commerce Humayun Akhtar Khan, Punjab Law Minister Muhammad Basharat Raja and other political leaders and parliamentarians.
Ijazul Haq and other speakers paid tributes to the services rendered by the late general.
The freedom of Kashmir was my father’s dream, Ijazul Haq said on Tuesday. He was addressing politicians and parliamentarians gathered at the Faisal Mosque on the death anniversary of his late father, General Ziaul Haq.
“India is hatching conspiracies against Pakistan through its Afghan agents,” said Mr Haq. “We should strive to foil these conspiracies through jihad and not through terrorist activities.”
Mr Haq said that his father had turned the Pakistan Muslim League into a party that represented the masses. He said that Zia’s government was committed to eliminating unemployment from the country and advised the government to take up the challenge. He said he would continue his father’s mission of helping improve the standard of living of the masses.
The late president was killed in a plane crash near Bahawalpur on August 17, 1988. online/app
